I was driving home today and it was dark. At the roundabout, there was somebody cutting into my lane and I was watching this car in my rear view mirror on the left as I was coming out of the roundabout. Straight after the roundabout a car was parked on the road. The car was parked incorrectly and I was clearly distracted. I nearly went into the car. As I drove past, the lady who owned the car gave me the finger salute. This was at the same time that I was waiving a sorry to her. The incident could not have lasted more than 2 seconds. Once I was on my way, I thought to myself, how quickly we judge. Her entire judgement and the decision to show me the finger was based on something that happened in less than a second. There was no thought to her own contribution to the problem. She judged, passed verdict and executed in less than 3 seconds. Wow!
I cant help but think if I behave the same way. Sadly, I think we all do! How many situations do we come across in life everyday when our snapshot view of life and other fellow human beings makes us judge each other so quickly. Would it not be better if we all took a moment before we judge? Give someone the benefit of doubt…
